"Scary Sunday" (Kowai Nichiyoubi) is a television drama series that ran on Nippon Television from July 4 to September 26, 1999. It consists of 10 episodes plus one recap episode. It aired every Sunday from 11:40 to 12:00 p.m., and the title of the drama comes from this. Nino, Aiba and MatsuJun appear in one episode each.

The show was presented as an anthology-style drama in which viewers were asked to submit their paranormal experiences, but it was actually based on the "Shin Mimibukuro" (New Earmuffs) series of true ghost stories by Kihara Hirokatsu and Nakayama Shiro. Kihara later published a paperback book titled "Kowai Nichiyoubi," a re-edited version of the stories that inspired each episode of the drama.

The show was produced and filmed by Office Crescendo. This drama series continued with "Kowai Sunday: New Chapter" and "Kowai Sunday: 2000."
