"The Kindaichi Case Files" is a Japanese television drama based on the manga of the same name by Amagi Seimaru that ran from 1992-2023. There was also an anime adaptation in 1997 and 2007. This mystery follows high school student Kindaichi Hajime, the son of the famous detective Kindaichi Kosuke, as he solves difficult cases one after another with the exceptional deductive powers he inherited from his grandfather, alongside his childhood friend Nanase Miyuki and his collaborators, police officers Inspector Kenmochi Isamu and Inspector Akechi Kengo. Generally the cases will have a supernatural element.. Mastujun stars as Kindaichi in the 3rd season of the live action series. Suzuki Anne was also in the 2nd season but as a different role.

Kindaichi Hajime
Played by Jun Matsumoto (Arashi) (childhood: Fuki Ochiai)
A second-year student at Fudo High School.
He has a cool personality and doesn't seek to get too close with anyone except Miyuki. Unlike the other series, he doesn't have a perverted side. While he may be friendly with women he's interested in, he doesn't show his ulterior motives or try to get too familiar with them like in the original. On the other hand, he does have some strange thoughts.
Nanase Miyuki
Played by Anne Suzuki
A second-year student at Fudo High School.
She is a spoiled brat and has a more childish personality than in the original. Unlike the other TV series and the original work, she is not portrayed as an honor student. She clearly shows affection for Hajime and actively relies on him and sometimes contributes to solving the case.
Kenmochi Isamu
Played by Takashi Naito
A Metropolitan Police Department inspector.
After his involvement with Hajime in the first case, he begins to trust him. Compared to other series, his appearance and personality are closer to the original, and he often puts his body on the line. In "The Magic Train Murder Case," he also plays the role of Akechi Kengo.
Saki Ryuta
Played by Jun Hasegawa (then a Johnny's Jr. member)
A first-year student at Fudo High School. A member of the Mystery Research Club.
Introverted. In "The Russian Doll Murder Case," he appears as a stand-in for Inukai Takashi.
Hayami Reika
Played by Wakana Sakai
Idol. A classmate of Hajime and Miyuki from elementary school.
He has a gentle personality and does not have the conflict with Miyuki that is present in the original.
Takato Yoichi
Played by Takayuki Fujii (childhood: Kento Shibuya)
"Hell's Puppet Master." Manager of the Illusion Magic Troupe → Helper for the participants in the Inheritance Game. In the original work, she also appears in "The Hayami Reika Kidnapping and Murder Case," but in this work she only appears in "The Magic Train Murder Case" and "The Russian Doll Murder Case." In "The Magic Train Murder Case," she gives off a gloomy impression, but in "The Russian Doll Murder Case," she takes on a wild appearance and shows a sadistic side.
