Set during the turbulent end of the Edo Period. After 250 years of peaceful Tokugawa rule, the nation is divided it into two camps. The loyalist faction sought to seize power from the Shogunate and return it to the emperor. The pro-Shogunate faction was determined to maintain the Tokugawa reign. In Kyoto, the seat of the imperial court, these two factions waged a fierce, bloody battle day and night, risking the future of Japan. An armed group are tasked with policing Kyoto under orders from the Shogunate: the Shinsengumi. Okita Souji (Ohno), the leader of the assault squad, sent trembling waves through Kyoto with his brilliant swordplay.
